She could hear everything and couldn’t say anything... which is why she now asks that no one else go through the same thing... Her mom thought that playing music for her might keep her company during that time, but when she woke up, Kenya revealed that she could indeed perceive what was playing around her and that she ended up completely fed up with hearing it over and over again. As she recounted, the experience was far less comforting than her family had imagined. Although she appeared unconscious from the outside, she says she could hear the music, and that the constant repetition eventually became something unbearable. That’s why, when she was able to talk about what she had experienced, she gave a very clear recommendation: “Don’t play music for people who are in a coma.” What her mom intended as a way to keep her company ended up being part of an experience that Kenya remembers
