Review: A common experience with SHEIN clothing is that some items arrive with a slight smell. This is not unusual for fast-fashion retailers, especially when items come packaged in plastic for long shipping periods. The smell also varies depending on the material. Some synthetic fabrics such as polyester, spandex, or faux leather may carry a light factory or chemical smell when first opened. This is typically due to dyes, plastic packaging, or long-distance shipment. The smell is usually not overwhelming, but it can be noticeable if you open the packaging in a small room. Denim items sometimes have a stronger scent, similar to new jeans from retail stores, but occasionally slightly sharper because of the dye used. Faux leather items such as jackets, skirts, or bags often carry the most noticeable factory smell, which can linger for a day or two. However, the good news is that almost all these smells disappear quickly after washing or airing the clothes out. A simple wash cycle is usually end.
